Making a dot in the interwebs universe
Hello!
Everybody who knows game developement personally knows that it is hard, frustating and takes forever. In the midst of it all one really wouldn’t like to think about the social aspects of getting your game out there. It’s a whole new level set of challenges, but it’s really important.
These are few simple steps that every dev can make in the social media to increase awareness of a game.
Three simple tips:
1. Keep your messages simple, less text is better.
Concise messages get’s to the point straight away, without hassle.
To get to the point which one would you Read? And actually click?
- “Hey everybody, I like to thank the community for great feedback creating my game. It has been really good.I started this when I was college and later found out that I didn’t have the time. But now, I have found some time to make the game and I am finally ready to release it.I would like to have your feedback on it. I hope you are interested on it as much as I am and can get some entertaiment out of this beta. Sign up <link> and happy gaming”.
OR
- “Great community. Good tips. Had ups and downs. Finally made it. Please rate it <link> !”
…I dunno about you, but I would have clicked on the shorter one.
2. Add visual content to your posts.
Nothing is more boring in the interwebz age than plain text. I mean just think about the audience in the internet as the most annoying ADHD kid you know, and then think that you have just given him 3 cans of energy drinks. The kid will not read, or even register text in his brain. Thank god for memes!
3. Engage with people who comment and comment back!
Let’s say someone comments on your post, don’t matter what it is, make a reply! Even if no one comments, but just likes it, just post something like “Aww yesh! thanks for the likes!” etc.. You know, don’t be the weirdo in the cafe that replies nothing when asked something 😀
